Orthopaedic Consultation in T. Nagar, Chennai

A thorough first consultation — history, examination, imaging and a written plan you leave with and can act on.

Dr. Pankaj Hingarh, MBBS, MS (Orthopaedics) T. Nagar, Chennai Digital X-ray on site

A good orthopaedic consultation is mostly listening and examining. Imaging confirms or refutes what the examination already suggested; it rarely produces the diagnosis on its own. A consultation that begins with a scan and works backwards tends to treat the picture rather than the patient.

Consultations at the T. Nagar clinic run Monday to Saturday, morning and evening, with walk-ins accepted throughout. Digital X-ray is available on site, so in most cases you leave with a diagnosis and a written plan rather than a list of tests and another appointment.

Second opinions are welcome, including on surgery that has already been recommended elsewhere. Bring your imaging and reports. Being told that surgery is not yet necessary is a legitimate and common outcome of a second opinion here.

When to book a consultation

  • Joint pain lasting more than two to three weeks
  • Any injury with swelling, deformity or inability to bear weight
  • A joint that locks, catches or gives way
  • Pain that wakes you at night or is present at rest
  • Reduced walking distance or new difficulty with stairs
  • A second opinion on recommended surgery
  • Review of an old injury or previous operation that still troubles you

What to expect at your visit

1

History taken properly

How the problem began, what makes it better or worse, how it affects your work and daily life, and what you most want to get back to. That last question shapes the whole plan.

2

Clinical examination

Structured examination of the affected joint and the joints above and below it, since referred pain is common — hip arthritis frequently presents as knee pain.

3

Imaging where indicated

Digital X-ray on site during the same visit. MRI or CT arranged only when it would genuinely change the plan.

4

Diagnosis explained plainly

What is wrong, in language you can repeat to your family, with your X-ray on screen in front of you.

5

A written plan

Medication, exercises, activity guidance and clear follow-up timing, in writing. Including what should prompt you to come back sooner.

Questions

Orthopaedic Consultation — your questions answered

Still unsure about something? Call +91 99622 45671 and ask.

Do I need an appointment, or can I walk in?
Walk-ins are accepted throughout consultation hours — 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM and 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM, Monday to Saturday. Calling ahead on +91 99622 45671 usually reduces your waiting time.
What should I bring to my first consultation?
Any previous X-rays, MRI or CT films and reports, a list of your current medications, previous operation notes if relevant, and your insurance details if you have cover. Wear or bring clothing that allows the affected limb to be examined.
Will I need surgery?
Most patients seen at the clinic do not. The great majority of orthopaedic problems are managed with medication, injection, physiotherapy and activity modification. Surgery is recommended when the evidence supports it for your specific condition, and the reasoning is explained to you.
Can I get a second opinion on surgery recommended elsewhere?
Yes, and we see a steady number of such patients. Bring all your imaging and reports. You will get an honest assessment, including agreement with the original recommendation where that is what the evidence shows.
Which languages can I consult in?
English, Tamil, Hindi and Marwari.
